Karen Moe (21) is a young artist from Verdal with roots deeply planted in both farm soil and the country genre. Growing up on a farm and in a musical family, there was never any doubt about which direction she would take – with a father, a brother and an uncle who all play guitar and have country as their musical heart, Karen was exposed to country music with her mother’s milk.

Her interest in music and performing arts started in kindergarten, where singing and theater quickly became a natural part of everyday life. Growing up, she was exposed to both Trøndelag artists and bands, but it was not until her teens that her love of country music really took off. Just before a trip to the United States, her father recommended that she take a closer look at the Dixie Chicks – a recommendation that would prove to be fateful. The entire trip was soundtracked by strong female voices and catchy melodies, and it was then that her love for "female country music" blossomed in earnest.

Karen cites artists like The Chicks, Jo Dee Messina, Ella Langley, Tanya Tucker, Dolly Parton and Shania Twain as her biggest inspirations. Since she was 14 years old, she has been performing on stages large and small, performing for dances at birthday parties, weddings, Christmas parties and other events – always with a steady voice and a clear love for the music she conveys.

With her warm communication skills, heartfelt lyrics and solid roots in the country tradition, Karen Moe is now ready to take the step out to a larger audience.
