Environment and sustainability at Norsk Countrytreff
Norsk Countrytreff is Environmental Lighthouse certified, and we work systematically to reduce the climate and environmental impact of our festival.
We do this through specific plans, goals and measures within transport, energy, waste, purchasing, land use and the working environment.
Environmental Lighthouse certified festival
-
Transportation
We have a high focus on transportation for both the audience, artists and partners. As an audience, there is a bus service from several locations in the county, and artists are transported by public transportation to and from hotels.
-
Energy
The festival camp accounts for a large part of the festival's electricity consumption. We collect data directly from our electricity supplier Wattn and have a full overview of the consumption, so that we can plan for more energy-efficient solutions in the future. We do not use generators during the festival.
-
Waste and circularity
We have several sorting stations at the arena, and a waste collection company collects waste continuously during the festival. We have tested deposits and the use of PLA material on disposable materials, but this has proven challenging in the sorting process. Our main focus is therefore currently that everything should be collected and not litter the surrounding area.
-
Nature and land use
The festival area is built up with fixed roads, underground electricity and drainage to protect nature as much as possible. After the festival, it is thoroughly cleaned up, and damage to grass and cultivated land is repaired and re-sown.
-
Purchasing
We prioritize local suppliers, both in food, beverage, production and technical services. We collaborate with, among others:
Gloppen Hotell Eco-Lighthouse certified
Gilde Meat products from the local area
Gardsbrenneriet Locally produced drink
Repix Local production of marketing materials and festival merch without surplus inventory
Coop Prix Byrkjelo Grocery shopping
Several local technical suppliers within sound, lighting, electrical and construction
Own information system in the arena via big screen and information boards
Map with overview of sorting stations, health services, firefighting equipment, etc.
Information about transportation and environmental measures via website, social media and local newspaper
Shopping bus for the camp and public transport for the public
Collaboration with emergency services and healthcare personnel regarding public safety
We set annual goals and measures to improve our climate, environment and working environment. This is followed up through annual reporting and evaluation. Documentation of implemented measures and results can be found in our annual environmental report.
