— As songwriters, what drives us is that there is always a better song, that we never get tired, says Claudia Scott. Last year's release The Belle of Singapore won the Spellemannprisen award, and also received the award for best album at Fjording 2025.
With tasteful touches of pedal steel guitar, Hammond organ, subdued percussion, and Scott's own baritone guitar and soulful performance, the songwriter has created a personal album that reflects on the various events that affect us all throughout life.
In 2024, she received several awards honoring her songwriting – including the Rolf Gammlengs Veteran Award, the Honorary Award and the award for best song with Baby Don't You Leave Me This Way during Fjording 24. The megahit Heard You on My Radio was, a full 32 years after its release, nominated for the final for best song in the UK Radio Country Music Awards.
In addition to three Spellemann Awards, Claudia has received three SESAC Awards in the USA for her songwriting collaboration with Americana original Kevin Welch.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with a large number of artists and songwriters, both nationally and internationally. Claudia admits that she is “starting to get the hang of it” when it comes to songwriting – her contributions span over a hundred albums, and she has had long residencies in two of the world’s most important music cities: Los Angeles and Nashville.
Claudia comes from strong roots in the country genre, but has developed her own style. As a musician and songwriter, she shows off her many talented sides. She is a fearless artist who has dared to go her own way in search of a personal musical expression. Claudia Scott plays several guitars, mandolin, harmonica and vocals herself – and captivated the audience with her warm personality and ability to communicate.
