During their 35 years on the road, Hellbillies have been a steady supplier of songs to the Norwegian song treasury. With 18 album releases, a long list of classics and several thousand concerts played all over the country, the band has remained at the top of the Norwegian music scene.

Hellbillies have been honored and respected for their ability to fuse American and Norwegian musical traditions, while maintaining a distinctly unique identity. Not least, the lyrics of one of the band's founders, Arne Moslåtten, have had a great impact. With originality and high literary quality, they have, together with the music of Aslag Haugen and Lars Haavard Haugen, become stylistic and an important part of Norwegian cultural life. This has made Hellbillies a role model for many artists within the genre, with new generations constantly discovering the band's song catalog.

The band has received rave reviews from both audiences and reviewers, and the recognition has come in a variety of different forms – from the Spellemannprisen's honorary award "Spellemann of the Year", awards from the Norwegian Music Association, the Norwegian Artists' Association, the Prøysen Prize and the Medaas Prize, to outstanding reviews of both albums and concerts.

Hellbillies consists of Aslag Haugen (vocals, guitars), Lars Haavard Haugen (guitars, vocals), Bjørn Gunnar Sando (drums), Egil Stemkens (bass) and Lars Christian Narum (keyboards).
