From the isolated mining town of Kiruna in the far north of Sweden, a band emerged that would put both Norrbotten County and Swedish Americana on the map. At the start of the 2000s, they broke through with a sound that combined classic country, rock and Americana – shaped by vast expanses, northern power and an honesty in songwriting that spoke directly to the people. Where others were shaped by commercial forces, these musicians chose to hold on to their own voice and vision, something that has later become a trademark for the band.
The band debuted in 2005 with the album "Rebecca Drive", which was recorded in Nashville - a chance few Swedish bands had been given at the time - and they soon gained attention both at home and internationally for their strong songwriting chops and sparkling live energy.
Over the years, they have built a loyal fan base not only in Scandinavia, but also far beyond the country's borders - on tours, festivals and on the radio. The band has played to full houses several times, and the previous single " Mighty Good Time " climbed the Svensktoppen charts in Sweden, an achievement that confirms their popularity with a wide audience. The album "Blue" came out in 2009, and showed again that the guys had an expression that dug into the folk soul of those lucky enough to have discovered the band.
For many, it is their ability to write songs with genre-crossing quality that sets them apart: lyrics made with the heart, melodies that suit both the country purist and the rock lover, and a closeness to the audience that makes the concerts more than just music - they become community and a lived experience.
Throughout their career, the band has gone through both ups and downs. The members have taken breaks, worked on other projects, and prioritized family life, but the creative core has always found its way back to music. They have never officially called it quits – and sporadic new releases and tours have kept the spark alive.
Now they are back in the air and making a comeback – ready for 2026, with performances at, among other things Norsk Countrytreff This comes after they have been working on new material, and the audience can look forward to experiencing these legendary voices and tones live again — a band that has not only put Kiruna on the musical world map, but has also inspired countless artists in Sweden and the Nordic region.
Willy Clay Band – the legends return. This is simply an opportunity you can't miss!
