Young country traditionalist Alex Miller had his world turned upside down after appearing on American Idol in 2021. Shortly after being eliminated from the show, Miller secured a manager, booking agent, and record deal. His debut album, MILLER TIME (April 2022), was very well received and resulted in three big singles: “I'm Over You, So Get Over Me,” “Don't Let The Barn Door Hit Ya,” and “Through With You.
” His second project on Billy Jam Records, the EP COUNTRY (October 2023), yielded several hits including “When God Made The South,” “Girl, I Know A Guy,” and the big single “Puttin' Up Hay.” In June 2024, Alex made his Grand Ole Opry debut. “It was absolutely incredible,” says Miller. “I had fans driving in from several states to see the show and share the experience with me. It was amazing.”
The 6-foot-1 singer-songwriter from rural Lancaster, Kentucky is a natural crowd favorite, and his career has taken off at a blistering pace. In addition to a busy 2021 tour schedule, Miller was named Texas Roadhouse Artist of the Month (October) and dueted with Grand Ole Opry star Rhonda Vincent at the Lee Greenwood All-Star Salute concert (November). By the start of 2022, Alex had performed at several state fairs (Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Washington, Wisconsin) and was the opening act for Hank Jr., Josh Turner, Lee Brice , and Shenandoah . His star continued to rise, and in 2022 he also opened for Brooks & Dunn, Jamey Johnson, King Calaway , and Aaron Watson. He also shared the stage with Diamond Rio and Sawyer Brown , and made his debut at the popular Wild Rose Casinos in Iowa.
By the end of 2023, Alex had shared the bill with artists such as Chris Janson, Chapel Hart, Drake Milligan, Noah Thompson, Dillon Carmichael, HunterGirl, Emily Ann Roberts , and Tracy Byrd. He played at state fairs in Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, as well as county fairs in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Alex also collaborated with CMR Nashville , Europe's largest country radio station, where he hosted the monthly program MILLER TIME - a fun and personal insight into his creative universe. He ended the year by receiving the American FFA Degree , the organization's highest honor.
The busy touring life opened his eyes to new genres and artists, and in 2024 he opened for Justin Moore, Ian Munsick, Neal McCoy, Alabama and more. “I’m always working on getting better – both as a person and as a musician,” says Alex. “But I’m country … and that’s never going to change.”
Miller takes his songwriting seriously: “It helps me stay true to who I am as an artist, while also allowing me to experiment a little,” he says.
In the past year alone, Alex has collaborated with songwriters like Kent Blazy, Larry Cordle, Kirsti Manna, Byron Hill, Carl Jackson, Wood Newton, Jerry Salley, Josh Shilling , and Bill Whyte. He has also co-written with talented newcomers like Emily Ann Roberts, Allie Colleen , and Sara Jean Kelley. “Writing with these people has been huge for me,” says Alex. “It has broadened my musical horizons and made me more confident as a songwriter. And when it works out—and you’re left with a great song at the end of the day—there’s no better feeling.”
His songwriting is at the center of his latest EP, MY DADDY'S DAD , which was released on April 12. The energetic artist co-wrote three of the five songs. The EP, produced by Jerry Salley for Billy Jam Records, quickly became a hit with the title track and first single. The second single, the fresh and humorous love song “She Makes Dirt Look Good” (October 2), is poised to become a new favorite. MY DADDY'S DAD ranges from raucous to romantic—and shows that Miller is here to stay.
For a “Kentucky boy” who began his career at the age of seven, his commitment to music is obvious. As a child, he quickly progressed from small local performances in Lancaster to larger stages such as the Dolby Theatre, Lucas Oil Stadium, WoodSongs, Renfro Valley and Lincoln Jamboree. His expressive tenor voice brought him early success, and his guitar and steel guitar playing is an important part of his stage show. Alex also plays ukulele, bass and banjo.
In 2025, Miller had several surprises in store for fans – including a new duet, “More Country Than You,” with Emily Ann Roberts.
