Biography
Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra started after vocalist Rebekka Nilsson and Joakim Borgen saw the film “Broken Circle Breakdown” in 2013. They were so inspired by the music in the film that they formed a fantastic octet of talented young musicians.
And what was more natural than to meet in a living room in Oslo a few weeks later, record a version of “Wayfaring Stranger” and post it on YouTube, right? 15,000,000 streams and 50,000 subscribers later, one can only say that it was a stroke of genius!
The band has released two albums, and both have resulted in nominations - both Spellemann in the Country class in 2021 and IBMA Momentum Awards as “Band of the Year” in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, Rebekka Nilsson was also nominated for the IBMA Momentum Awards - Vocalist of the Year, a nomination she also won.
Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra's albums have ranked high on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Charts , with Migrants reaching number 4 and The Broken Circle Sessions reaching number 9.
In other words, the band is of high quality. Breim in 2024 - and you will still get to experience them at the church concert in Breim church.
